Ms. Corrie’s Class Recap: Printmaking for the Halloween Event (New Class!)

At our special Halloween printmaking class, students explored a variety of hands-on printing techniques, learning different ways to create 2D art. The session began with watercolor marbling to create foggy, black-and-white backgrounds for spooky pumpkin patch prints. Once the marbled paper dried, students moved on to monotype printing, crafting custom orange pumpkin prints by using cotton swabs to remove ink and transfer the image onto black paper, resulting in adorable jack-o-lanterns.

Next, students experimented with spooky bat and moon collagraph stamps, practicing hand printing techniques. They then combined their favorite stamps with the marbled backgrounds, adding Halloween-themed elements like trees and cats using watercolor. Finally, they glued their pumpkin monoprints to the scene, wrapping up a fun and creative printmaking pumpkin party!

Ms. Beth class: Still Life Sketching (New Class!)

We had an inspiring and creative session featuring a delightful still life of large and small pumpkins, beautifully lit to spark imagination! Students got right to work with their 2B pencils and softer 6B and 7B pencils. They began by practicing gradients and creating thumbnail sketches on smaller pieces of paper before transitioning to their larger canvases.

Using the 2B pencils for initial sketches and lighter shadows, they then switched to the softer pencils to add depth with darker shadows. The highlight of the event was seeing each student’s unique perspective reflected in their drawings, resulting in a vibrant collection of pumpkin-themed art! It was a wonderful celebration of creativity and skill.

Ms. Katlynn’s Class Recap: Digital Sticker and Emoji Design

In this class, students had a blast designing their very own pumpkin stickers! From quirky shapes to spooky faces, they unleashed their creativity to make each pumpkin unique. After perfecting their designs, they learned how to print and seal them into actual stickers. The excitement didn’t stop there—they watched the Cricut cutting machine in action, transforming their digital artwork into real-life creations!
