Stop-Motion Animation 1

K - 2nd

Stop Motion 1 students will learn the foundations of making an animation and storytelling. Students will be introduced to puppet making, set building and prop making through various materials such as clay, paper and felt etc. They will learn film making techniques and terms through short projects. We will touch on all areas of animated filmmaking, from character design to video editing and adding music. At the end of each project students will have a finished short film along with everything they created for it, including puppets, backgrounds and design sketches.

Stop Motion students will learn animation techniques through multiple film projects. Students will be introduced to puppet making, set building and prop fabrication primarily through the materials of clay, paper and felt. They will learn all the most important principals of animation. We will touch on all areas of animated filmmaking, from character design to video editing and adding music. At the end of each project students will have a finished short film along with everything they created for it, including puppets, backgrounds and design sketches.
