Ceramic Sculpture introduces students to fundamental hand-building techniques and includes two projects on wheel throwing. Students explore a variety of surface treatments, decoration methods, and texturing techniques while learning to bring their ideas to life in clay. The class emphasizes the benefits of hands-on sculpting, including improving fine motor skills, spatial awareness, problem-solving, and artistic expression. Students also gain an appreciation for the long and diverse histories of ceramics from cultures around the world.
